Issue #9 - 3 Money Making Secrets Monday 11/25/2002

Welcome to ALL you new subscribers. Many requested previous issues ... so Issues #1-8 will be posted on my website. Just give me another week. K? Yes, I'm very receptive to your ideas too. Click on reply and let me/us know YOUR IDEAS!

Money Making Secret #1 – IT'S YOUR MONEY Get Paid for what you do and get paid ON time ALL the time!

If you have to go out of pocket to provide a product or service to your clients, get a deposit (I recommend 50%) upon taking the job and get the balance at the time of completion or delivery. Remember, $500 collected 30, 60 or 90 days late is no longer $500. It has been impacted by inflation and lost cost opportunity. Not to mention that now you're spending your time playing the collection game (counter productive) instead of selling more product or service (productive). The easiest and most cost effective way to fix the "I don't have the money," or "I'm waiting for my customers to pay me," scenario is to set yourself up with merchant services so you can accept credit card payments. That way if they can't write the check, you can bill onto their credit card. Either way, you get your money for your work -- and you get it on time.

THREE tips from Victoria Torok. One today and the other two next week. Thanks Victoria for reminding us: IT'S OUR MONEY!

Money Making Secret #3 – It's all in the WORDS WE SAY

  Q. How do you usually answer your phone? Is it with "Hello" Or "Hi this is Joe"

Many, many years ago I was in the habit of answering my phone with "This is Joe. May I help you?"

My dear friend Jeff Royal challenged me to add one more word to my phone greeting and make it even MORE POWERFUL saying: "Hi, this is Joe Sabah. HOW may I help you?"

Hmmmm, and what a difference this has made in my life and in my business.

Jeff went on to explain that by adding the question "HOW" to my greeting that I was setting up the conversation to let my callers know that I am going to HELP THEM. I would help them personally, and if I couldn't help them MYSELF I will choose to refer them to someone else.

IDEA: Print out this Secret #2 Practice saying the following out loud:

Hi, this is _____ Hi, this is _____. May I help you? Hi, this is _____ HOW may I help you?

Are you beginning to FEEL the difference.

Try it. Your callers will certainly notice the difference also.

PS Jeff Royal gave me this idea (EXTRA WORD) in 1980 ... he passed away about 1985, but his idea/s are still working.

PPSS I'm now into shorter, easier-to-read ideas. Thanks to those of you who wrote me last week about length of ideas. =================================================
