Money Making Secret #1 -- Do you have a SIG line?
Of course, you have a calendar with family/friends/business associates birthdays. The only other item you need is access via the internet to http://www.famousbirthdays.com.
Let's say you have a friend whose birthday is today: October 21:
Next you go to http://www.famousbirthdays.com and discover that your friend is in good company...

Just another way of brightening up the day of someone special to you.
Money Making Secret #2 -- Databases = the Most Important Asset of Your Business
What is a database?
According to www.m-w.com (that's internet access to the Mirriam-Webster Online Dictionary) circa 1962 : a usually large collection of data organized especially for rapid search and retrieval (as by a computer).
My definition of a database?
Simply a list of names, businesses, information that you've compiled to help your business MAKE MORE MONEY.
For example, since I started my business 20 years ago I've collected the names/addresses/phone of everyone who has been in my classes and seminars. Then later on I added their fax and email addresses and websites. I continue to create new 'fields' like birthdays, anniversaries.
When I became the 'keeper of the database' for CIPA (the Colorado Independent Publishers Association) I became more creative: tracking membership, meeting attendance, prospective members etc. This creativity was partly responsible for the tripling in size of the CIPA membership in only three years.
My recommendation: Start NOW!
Use whatever program you're most familiar with ... making sure the program has 'fields' so you can enter FirstName, LastName, Company, Address, etc.

PS, I backup my database called BigList, at least daily, and then again weekly 'offsite.' It's that valuable to me.
Money Making Secret #3 -- e-Zines = Why Every Businessperson Should Have One
Anita Larson (info@thewebmuse.com) conducts a monthly seminar on the effective use of the internet.
I attended her seminar over a year ago when she told all the attendees that the BEST way to maximize our presence on the internet was to start an e-zine.
What's an e-zine? You are reading/experiencing one. Simply put, an e-zine is an electronic magazine, one that comes out weekly, monthly, bi-monthly.
An easy, inexpensive way to 'stay in touch' with your clients, prospects, friends on a regular basis.
Then why did Joe Sabah WAIT A YEAR before starting his e-zine? Probably the usually excuses.
I don't know what I'd put in it
I don't have time
I don't have enough email addresses who would be interested
and the excuses could go on and on and on...
UNTIL one day good friend Jan Lindgren, MA (jan@kidviewz.com) asked me to speak to your 'Connection' group. That was the day that 'turned my life around.'
The night before this speaking engagement I asked: "What could I do special for these 36 women who would be attending this event?"
Of course, offer them an e-zine! So I created a postcard offering this e-zine, which I quickly named
3 Money Making Secrets Every Monday
Now that I had collected 29 new email addresses (out of the 36) I put myself 'on the spot.'
I had to perform, or else? Or else what?
I'd embarrass myself and fail to deliver what I promised.
Here I am at 630 on Monday morning, October 21st, creating e-zine #4. Passing along the ideas and benefits that I've been blessed to receive AND USE in my business.
Here's hoping this gives YOU the nudge you need to start your own e-zine.
